Well, it’s March, so here’s a collection of female PoV fics I’ve enjoyed recently. It’s far, far from an exhaustive list, and a bit scattershot, if I’m honest. I kept trying to cut it down to a reasonable length but it just kept getting longer.

Really my main criteria were: a) from a female character’s PoV and b) interesting. So now I’ve got a lovely collection of fics about mothers and sisters and aliens and warriors and royalty and survivors. Lots of survivors.

Imekari sometimes was ashamed of her horns; the other imekaris teased her and called her ox because of their unusual shape. But deep down she wanted to be proud of them, because her bearer's were wider and mightier, and he was proud of them for it.

Hissrad, his name was. Yes, she would be proud of them, just like he was, and she would grow big and strong and powerful to better serve the Qun.

“It isn’t likely they’ve left,” Freddie explains, eyes trailing over Molly’s hands as she sets the mugs down and pours their coffee. “Jack Crawford is looking for them in Florence. Hannibal’s ex-psychiatrist turned up a week ago missing a leg. You tell me what continent they’re on.”

The mug Molly is holding clatters against the counter top loudly, and coffee sloshes everywhere.

“Excuse me?” Molly finds herself laughing, sharp voiced and flabbergasted. She turns again, enough to see Freddie, smirking and staring back at her from the kitchen table.

Worth it, to keep the Empire from this treasure.

It is not all misery: someone is speaking soothing foreign words and laying her on a soft surface. Unexpected. Not much in her life is soft. Perhaps she died in the crash after all.

Krolia crashes her ship on Earth and falls in love.

She catches her final glimpse of Earth on the radar before Kolivan engages the thrusters. She tucks the tiny picture of Keith in the back pocket of her pack as she tries to shake the sound of his cries still ringing in her ears. Kolivan, surprisingly, doesn’t lecture her about having ‘no personal effects’. He merely raises his brow as she turns away from him.

After a two-year posting to the little known blue planet, Krolia leaves Keith with her blade and a pain in her chest.

She clutches her hand over her chest as the ship accelerates, and feels her heart begin to crack.

“What do you want?” Yukina asks, impartially, for she knows that the answer likely has nothing at all to do with her and no longer childishly fantasizes that anything ever does.

Hiei struggles with the simple question—anything like it has always seemed to leave him in a quandary. He has made no move to sit down; then again, Yukina has certainly not invited him to. His posture is rigid, poised to flee at any moment.

“Kurama told me that the koorime Rui died,” he explains at last, “and that you’ve gotten it into your head that you wish to return to the Glacial Village as some sort of ill-advised commemoration. Is that true?”
