These were not mere liasons. He fell in love as he fell through the void. Or at least formed close connections to them/one of them.

They were coming when he was pulled away from them. They were coming when he was tortured. Thor didn’t come, they were. It wasn’t their fault that they didn’t come in time, they at least tried.

In Asgard, they arrive. His true friends and lovers. They are unpleased at his treatment.
