This fic is darling. The dry humor suits Spock perfectly. On of my favorite lines:

In October, he almost entered a catatonic state by mouthing the word “love” to himself…

The story covers multiple years at a quick clip, and yet each parallel scene moves forward just enough.

I thought this went well with Eight Nights, following up on the theme of giving gifts. What I like in both of these fics is the idea that these are people who really know each other, and gift-giving is a sign of how much they care for each other.

I should admit I’m a terrible gift-giver. I’m more of a let’s-go-shop-and-I’ll-buy-you-something person. Somehow I can imagine exactly what my characters would want, but I can’t work that same magic on actual people. Of course, like Spock, I’d be terribly happy if someone gave me a speech, or better yet, wrote me a letter or fic. I am a simple person.
