Summary: A certain god of mischief captures Coulson behind a mirror, and replaces him with a double. Phil gets to watch as his doppelganger subtly sabotages the Avengers… and becomes much more proactive in his love life than he’d ever dreamed of.

 

I admit, Clint and Coulson is one of those pairings I read because there’s an amazing amount of fic for it, rather than any personal investment in the pairing.

This one has some amazing character development. You get a really good look at Coulson’s place with the Avengers–how much he does, and how much he stays in the shadows, and how much that ends up screwing everyone over when Loki strikes. Loki, too, is riding that fine line of manipulative and gleefully sadistic, but so charming, so intelligent you find him fascinating.
