Continuing on my list of ‘fics I meant to do earlier,’ I do believe I was doing a spot of kid fics last month. I meant to do this with that set. Go back and read the kid fic tag if you need to set the mood. Man, after all the long angsty stories going back to this is like child’s play, pun partially intended.

This fic is just cute. Poor Coulson falls head over heels for Clint and for the baby. Well, everyone falls head over heels for the baby. Babies have that terrifying magic going on.

It’s actually pretty cool to see Coulson adapting his life as a SHIELD agent to life as a parent. That’s not a detail you really see in the movie universe. You expect it must happen, right? Big military operation, surely there must be some families involved? But on the other hand, that’s probably not something you want to consider when New York or SHIELD HQ is getting attacked by villains for the umpteenth time. Man. I’d hate to be in charge of the daycare wing during a HYDRA attack.

…I feel like that happened on Star Trek at one point? Next Gen had a lot of kids onboard the Enterprise.

Anyway. This story feels realistic. I completely follow Clint’s line of thoughts for the entire story–his lack of emotional intimacy, his fear of relationships and being a parent. It’s a short, sweet read. Happy endings, wooo!
