Archived fic rec - Where There is Darkness
Title: Where There is Darkness
Author: unveiled
Fandom: X-Men First Class
Rating: PG
Pairing: Erik Lehsherr/Charles Xavier
Warnings: allusions to various -isms,
Other notes: news/interview, minority studies, outside perspective, old age
Length: 2k
Summary: In the autumn of 2012, Daniela Zhou interviews Charles Xavier and Erik Lehnsherr. This is her story.
The mutants of X-Men have bee used metaphorically for several outsider groups–recently, LGBT folks. This is a short, but utterly fascinating piece that envisions a future where there might well be “mutant studies” alongside the other minority studies. Admittedly, I took my share of minority studies at uni (I was an English major, it all sort of went together), and I adore this interpretation of the world.
