My thoughts:

 

Wow, if there’s a fandom I need to go back to, it’s Smallville. I was a bit young when it premiered, and while I remember reading some fics, I wasn’t really in the fandom. I shipped Clark and Lex pretty hard (though I did find Lana fairly attractive), but I never got around to really getting into fic. Some to think of it, I like Chloe and Lois, too. Smallville was just one of those shows where the actors outshone the material they were given.

But that’s what fanfic is for.

This fic just smacks me square in my Clark/Lex feels–the subtle power play going on between them, Lex struggling with his guilt and his self-hatred and his utter belief that he cannot be the person Clark needs, the innocence/experience dichotomy, and, above all, the bond they have with each other, even when they don’t want it.

The sex is hot, again playing with the virginal-but-not-reluctant Clark and a Lex who, despite his experience, finds himself a little in over his head. There’s a nice amount of humor, including a dig at the show’s Dawson Casting. Only thing I’m sad about is the lack of a powers reveal. It felt like it was being foreshadowed in places, but maybe, like the show, i was waiting for something that was never going to happen (a similar issue plagued Merlin up until the end).
