I admit I like “Aftercare” a bit better. Masochism is–I’ll read it, but I tend to prefer the emotional aspects to the physical descriptions. Oddly, I do really enjoy masochism when it involves a doctor character–Bones, for example, or Hannibal. it feels…safer, I guess? I worry less about the characters when at least one of them knows what s/he is doing.

I just really adore reading John’s PoV here. it’s one thing to read, say, mirror universe sadism, or serial killer sadism, or any scenario where the character has no qualms about his or her sadistic tendencies. Reading about someone who’s reluctant, terrified, and bewildered by it is so much more fascinating.
