Summary: “The king sent me to get you,” Merlin said, with a tone that implied strongly that he wasn’t rolling his eyes where Arthur could see, but just wait until his back was turned. “He said you’re to get changed into formal clothes and meet him in the Great Hall, there’s a delegation coming from the Summer Court.”
This is a lovely fic that reminds me of what could have been–Merlin, bumbling but openly powerful; Arthur getting into situations impulsively but throwing his heart into them; brilliant, sarcastic Morgana trying to get everyone to see reason; and Uther being an ass but slowly losing all power and influence.
Sadly the actual Merlin episodes have been far from that, but, well, you go with what you have.
