Summary: For the prompt: Arthur realizes his feelings for Eames when he finds out Eames has dreams about fucking Robert with his perfect cheekbones. Arthur attempts to woo Eames with Adriadne and the rest of the team’s help. Eames is too used to Arthur’s rebuffs that he doesn’t take Arthur’s adorable fumbling attempts seriously.

It’s a bit explicit, but there’s also all the underlying symbolism, which Arthur points out later:

“That night in Scotland,” he said, his voice muffled by Eames’ coat. “With the…call girl.”

Eames smiled. “Yes. I remember.”

“I always think about it.”

“I wanted so badly to just…”

“Make her disappear.” Arthur smiled, pulled back a little to look at him. “She’s not here now.”

For some reason, those scenes get to me. That moment when they both realize they want each other, and they manage to be physically close, but can’t cross over the last distance, physically or emotionally. I do feel bad for the call girl, though. Reduced to nothing but a plot point.

The other scene I adore is when Eames says that Arthur isn’t what he expected him to be–no, he’s so much better, and Eames can’t imagine having a hand in something so amazing. That’s something you might not hear enough in life–I’m proud of you, so proud of you, you’ve exceeded my expectations, even if it wasn’t the way I expected. If only more parents were like that, ah.
