Welp. I wanted to see the origin of the memes, and now I am myself becoming part of the memes.
Yeah, I finally started watching Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure. And let me tell you, I have a definite thing for the ensemble and part crossover fics. It’s gonna take me a bit to write proper recs for all of them, but, in the meantime, I really want to share all these stories that have made me happy, intrigued, and, in a couple of cases, deeply angry at how close we came to a happier ending but damn it everyone is just too flawed and broken to manage it.
I think I came out almost half-and-half between gen fic and ship fic, so there should be something here to please everybody.
- (Part 1) - Until We Move On by Makkoska
A century spent alone at the bottom of the ocean is a long time, even for a creature like Dio. It’s a lucky thing that Jonathan keeps him company.
(My review) (complete, 20k) (Jonathan/Dio, Jonathan/Erina) (warnings: canon character death, canon animal death, body horror/gore, person buried alive, explicit sex (gay), psuedo-incest (adopted siblings))
- (Part 1 / Part 5) - Teach Your Children by littlesneezes
Giorno meets his dads and it goes about as well as you'd expect. The three of them encounter all sorts of dangers, general annoyances, and supernatural hum-buggery.
Meanwhile, those who remain in the present day have their own problems to attend to with eerily similar stakes.
(My review) (complete, 116k) (gen, background Jonathan/Erina) (warnings: canon-typical violence, past child abuse )
- (Part 3 / Part 5) - An Ambivalent Fate by MiscellaneKas
In the spring of 1988, Dio learns of Giorno Giovanna, a remarkable child carrying his blood. It's the smartest move to snatch him before the Joestars have the opportunity. Though his decision to take the child may have consequences reaching far beyond simple tactics.
(My review) (series, WIP sequel, 105k+) (gen) (warnings: past child abuse, murder, mind control, canon-typical body horror elements, canon-typical violence, character death/parental death/villain death)
- (Part 2 / Part 3) - Jojo’s Timely Adventure by Sarcastic_Raspberry
Jotaro and Kakyoin are sucked out of their time and spat back into a different one, forcing a young Joseph and Caesar to take their place.
How will the crusader's fair without two of their most powerful stands?
How will the world fair without two of their remaining Hamon warriors?
(WIP, 65k+) (Joseph/Cesar, Jotaro/Kakyoin) (warnings: canon-typical violence, canon character death)
- (Part 4 / Part 5) - Aureo is Unbreakable series by aces_of_academia
A series about the interactions between the characters from Diamond is Unbreakable and Vento Aureo.
Or: Giorno gets interrupted, Jotaro can't catch a break, and Josuke cares with all this heart.
(series, WIP, 40k+) (Josuke/Okuyasu) (warnings: mild angst, canon character death)
- (Part 5) - Take Me Out by littlesneezes
An assassination attempt turned sour, Mista is forced on the run with the man he was hired to kill. Through the streets of Milan and beyond his survival hangs entirely on the two of them learning to move past their differences and work together.
But of course, everything is easier said than done.
(complete, 87k) (Giorno/Mista) (warnings: canon-typical violence, mild sexuality)
- (Part 5) - Lovely Creatures series by moodybluemood
Leone Abbacchio knew betraying the boss would almost certainly mean death. Accepted it. Sure as hell didn't anticipate that the afterlife would entail train rides with the world's chattiest assassin, old British men who bake you pie whenever you want, Narancia dating a nice boy with a hole in his chest, and occasionally chasing the creature that used to be Giorno Giovanna's father off your porch with a shotgun. Bruno better be proud. Abbacchio's really trying to be a better person.
-or-
Leone Abbacchio learns to love Leone Abbacchio.
(my review) (series, WIP, 193k+) (Abbacchio/Buccellati, Gelato/Sorbet, Narancia/Kakyoin) (warnings: canon typical body horror/gore/violence, canon character death, discussion of homophobia and transphobia)
- (Part 6) - tell me we have not lived in vain series by standpreg
The world never ends, Jolyne never dies; she fights Pucci and wins, rewinding all the changes Made in Heaven accelerated. Jolyne and Hermes are released from prison due to the Speedwagon Foundation's interfering, and settle into a new life with Jotaro and Emporio in a shitty little apartment in Florida.
The series focuses on Jolyne's healing process after all she's done, and on the family's interactions with each other. Every Jojo meets.
(My review) (series, 72k) (gen) (warnings: angst, self-loathing issues)
- (Part 5 / Part 6) - Roads Converged, As Did the Stars by conceptofzero
"I have included a photo of your father, taken in September of 1988. I suspect it is unlike any you have ever seen of him. There are more photographs that I have brought with me, as well as stories about the man your father was, both the grand and the terrible. My only price for sharing this information is the pleasure of your company. I would treasure a chance to see how alike your father you are and how different as well. From the swiftness of your rise and the heights of your ambition, I suspect I will find the spark that this world has lacked since January of 1989."
A letter arrives for Giorno Giovanna from one of his father's old friends, and a request to meet. He accepts both.
(my review) (complete, 60k) (Giorno/Mista/Pucci, past Dio/Pucci) (warnings: explicit sex (gay), threesome, vaguely incestuous undertones)
- (Part 5 / Part 6) - Till the End of the World by kawauso
After ten years of working as Giorno's bodyguard, Mista realizes that he's falling in love. It might be too late.
or,
Where Giorno Was During Stone Ocean
(complete, 18k) (Giorno/Mista) (warnings: explicit sex (gay), past child abuse)
- (Eyes of Heaven) - The Stars Cast From Heaven series by Brightwing
A series of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure fanfics that take place both during and after Eyes of Heaven, focusing mainly on the lives of the Joestars and their friends, their interactions with each other, and the new lives they lead after the end of the game.
(series, WIP sequel, 140k+) (Jotaro/Kakyoin, Joseph/Cesar, Joseph/Suzie, Abdul/Polnareff) (warnings: canon-typical violence, angst)
- (Eyes of Heaven ) - Eyes of Heaven: Story Mode series by PlagueOfSquid
Jonathan meets lots of new people and gets along with everyone except himself.
(series, WIP sequel, 35k+) (gen) (warnings: canon character death, parental death, child abuse)
- (Eyes of Heaven) - The Enemy of the Good by alexclusive
An EoH-inspired fic: Star Platinum and The World have always been parallel Stands, so what would happen if Jotaro accessed (and retained) the power to rewrite reality as he saw fit? What would his life in the new universe be like? Is there really such a thing as a happily ever after — or is just "happy", ultimately, enough?
(complete, 3k) (pairing: Joseph/Suzie/Cesar, Jotaro/Kakyoin) (warnings: none)
- (all parts - AU) - Eight Day Week (Jojo-Spotting) by TrufflesTheMushroom
In another time, in another world, in another life, eight cousins all named Jojo live a relatively normal existence. For the very first time, all eight Jojos are spending New Years as a family. Johnny has an announcement to make before midnight, with Gyro's life possibly at stake.
(My review) (complete, 31k) (pairing: Johnny/Gyro) (warnings: background character death (sibling), grief/mourning, mental health issues)
- (all parts - AU) - with these things there’s no telling by The_Onion
Giorno Giovanna Meets His Biological Family For The First Time; a comedy in three acts*
(*not really acts)
(complete, 14k) (Johnny/Gyro, Tomoko/Shinobu, Abbacchio/Bucallati, Josuke/Koichi, Joseph/Cesar, Jonathan/Erina) (warnings: nothing, really)
