Summary: After the events of Avengers, Clint Barton just wants to get back to his old life. But he finds he can't get Loki out of his mind -- or his dreams.
I hadn’t been over to norsekink recently, but I found a couple of amazing Loki fics–all different, but all brilliant in their own way. Well, I suppose this is far more Clint’s story than Loki’s, but, still.
I just adore all the shades of grey in this fic. I love Clint’s conflict.
“Sometimes it’s easier to bear the guilt than it is to accept that you’re out of control”
is a brilliant summation. I haven’t had experience with therapy myself, but I love the way the doctor is written, and I definitely know the way Clint feels–that he wants help, but he can’t speak. Even when someone like Natasha says, “I understand,” it’s still not enough for him. He’s so full of chaos and questions, but, in the end, he finds the strength to make his own decision.
I don’t have the proper words, but I couldn’t stop reading. Clint is a far, far more developed character in these chapters than he got a chance to be in the movie. I was hanging on every word.
(Looking for more fic recs?)
